You control every aspect of your growing empire, including diplomacy, research, economics, and the military. Manage resources, balance multiplanet economies, and deal with a series of intelligent rivals. You can play with up to 16 human or computer players per game over a LAN or Internet connection. Pax Imperia is yet another entry in the "rule the galaxy" genre of "God games," but it's a richly detailed one. The graphics are very well done, as are the sounds, in particular the speech samples. However, with rich detail comes complicated play, so Pax Imperia will take a while to get used to. It's difficult to get accustomed to the Pax Imperia way of controlling fleets, running planets, and so on, which might be a source of frustration for some, but this is the pinnacle of the die-hard space-empire building games.
